Cynthia Ambres

With over 30 years of experience in clinical medicine, health care management and consulting, Dr. Cynthia Ambres has influenced many aspects of the health care industry.
Prior to joining Bialla Partners, she was a lead healthcare strategy partner at KPMG and a member of the Global Healthcare Center of Excellence. She focused on delivery, life sciences strategy, and board governance.
Formerly, Dr. Ambres served as SVP and CMO for HealthNow, New York, in a return engagement to the parent company of BCBS of WNY and NENY. She was responsible for healthcare reform strategy, provider contracting, and board education.
After residency Dr. Ambres joined Beth Israel Medical Center as an emergency medicine physician, where she became Chairman. Seeing an opportunity to have a broader impact on healthcare nationally, she joined Ernst and Young and gained a reputation for attracting new business and developing sustainable operational improvements for clients. Subsequently, she founded Ambres Healthcare Consulting, where she facilitated merger discussions and led leadership reorganizations - improving bottom lines while increasing patient satisfaction.
Later, as CMO of the billion-dollar Kaleida Heath System, she and the CFO led a turnaround that stabilized the organization while improving care quality.
In addition, Dr. Ambres served as president of Lifetime Health Medical Group and as a senior strategy executive for Lifetime Healthcare Companies.
Dr. Ambres holds a B.S. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.D. from Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York, and M.S. in health management and policy from NYU. She is licensed to practice medicine in New York and California and is certified in Acupuncture.
She resides in California and spends her free time hiking, writing, reading, advising on boards of start-ups, and occasionally sojourning into indie-film making as a producer.
